As you probably know very well, the feeling of being stressed can be triggered by an event that makes you feel frustrated, agitated, nervous or scared... a whole gamut of emotions are sometimes created as you feel completely rubbish, fearful, worried and uneasy. Stress and anxiety are not ALWAYS bad for us though of course... I’m thinking now of when our ‘fight or flight or freeze’ instincts kick in if we’re in danger! We’re urged to escape the source of our fear (eg the huge bear or speeding car) or fight or just freeze so they can’t see us/avoid us. But what if you can’t SWITCH OFF this feeling of anxiety? The feelings of panic on a daily/nightly 24/7 are truly life altering aren’t they? Medication can help greatly, certainly in my experience to give relief, but finding the source of my fear and talking this out and releasing built up emotions helped me more than anything. Having experienced high levels of anxiety and panic attacks years ago after spinal surgeries, this has given me a gift of empathy and passion to help those people who have to deal with these daily and nightly. After I eventually got through my ‘dark night of the soul’ (which lasted over a year having severe panic attacks) I decided to train as a teacher - which included the study of stress management for students. I had fought my ‘demons’ and needed to help others with theirs. Hypnotherapy can work well for stress relief, getting to the nub of anxieties speedily and helping clients regain control of their lives. My sessions can help the client to feel calm in themselves and retrain their mind (and thank their subconscious for the warning signals of danger) then to ‘turn down’ and finally switch off those fight, flight or freeze feelings and emotions.
